So. Today is World Communist Day or some such thing. There are plans for protests today in over 70 cities across the nation, protesting the Arizona Illegal Alien law.
Coincidence?

I think that I mentioned somewhere that I refused to fill in the racial questions on my census form. I simply will not participate in government-sponsored racial profiling.
Here's a question for you: Why is it considered racial profiling when people that have been detained by the police are asked to prove their citizenship, but it's NOT racial profiling when the government asks for your race when they're determining who gets entitlements or other government hand-outs?
---
I am always amazed when I travel from California to another state, and see the guns and rifles that other states are allowed to sell. It kind of fits into the whole communist May Day gig, no?
---
When/if the aforementioned Illegal Alien protests get violent, what kind of treatment will they receive from the press and the government? Same as the Tea Partiers?

"...Cinco de Mayo is not "an obligatory federal holiday" in Mexico, but rather a holiday that can be observed voluntarily.[5][6] While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States (also voluntarily) and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride..." (from Wikipedia...
ReplyDeleteand I wonder how many Yanquis will celebrate the date that even the Mexicans don't care that much about their own heritage and (what?) pride, yet libs think they're going to care about ours and this country?
A lot people in this country need their asses kicked.
Shy III
Shy, I don't understand what's happening in our country.
ReplyDeleteAs was not very hard to predict, there were a number of acts of violence against Tea Partiers this past weekend, yet it barely made the news.
Yet you have (literally) little old grandmothers protesting outside of a building where Obama is speaking, and they call in the SWAT team.
WTF?
I genuinely expect more violence to be directed towards Tea Partiers, and I expect we'll be pushing back.
I have lived in the West and Southwest for many years. I have known a lot of people who were of Mexican descent and many who were Mexicans here in the U.S. In general they were great people, friends and co-workers. Many were quite proud of their heritage but some were simply Americans for so many generations it meant little. But one of the problems with this issue is the media and the special interests play it all out as discrimination against all people of Mexican heritage which it is not. So these good Americans often feel alienated and take sides. What we need to do, all of us, is not be suckered into the phoney hate-mongering the media is foisting on us. We need to remember we are all Americans (obviously I am not talking about the illegals now) and we have a reason to want to keep our borders strong and our country safe. Don't allow yourself for even a second to react the way the race baiters want you to. If you live somewhere that has not had many Americans of hispanic descent maybe all you know is what you see on TV or the few illegals you now see. These are two seperate issues. Illegal activity should not be accepted and we need to act on it. But good Americans of all cultures should be honored as our brothers and sisters.
ReplyDeleteI have known some Americans of hispanic heritage who took it upon themselves to share their lives and traditions with me and others. They were like ambassadors who knew some of us from other backgrounds simply didn't know them and understand their culture. No big mystery just a lack of contact and understanding. Now I see it is my turn to reach out where necessary to be that ambassador. And not just hispanics but all people who because of our differences might feel alienated.
Not a perfect solution. Not a ground breaking idea. Just fellow humans breaking down barriers and reaching out so that the race baiters and dirty politicians don't divide us for their own gain and profit.
Anon, I've never understood the idea of pride in someone's race. I think of pride as being a reaction or feeling to an accomplishment. Your race is your race. There is nothing you can do to change it or make it better.
ReplyDeleteI'm of German and Irish heritage, and my wife is of Mexican and Irish heritage. I'm white, she's brown. None of that can ever change.
We taught our kids that a person's ethnicity, color, religion, gender - whatever - is irrelevant. It's what the PERSON does with those "tools" that makes them who they are. The idea that you have to support a black, white, Hispanic, man, woman or gay person simply because you share some trait or belief with them is insane.
But we're all Americans by choice. If we don't like it, we can work to make it better, or we can leave.
I have no time for race baiters. When I encounter them, I cut them off at the knees. Swift and sure.
I'm waiting for the visit from the census workers because I would not disclose the racial make-up of our household. I will not participate in the racial segregation of our country. If the want to fine me, I'll fight it.
I totally understand your sentiments about the census. I have always felt uncomfortable with questions like that. Two of my children are part Indian and one of my other sons is having a baby with an African American woman. I don't want to be forced to answer those questions. However after thinking for a long time I decided that the census was not worth the fight. I applaud your stand on principle but some fights aren't worth it. I am saving my energy for something worth my effort.
ReplyDeleteAnon, it's all a personal choice. Me not answering the race questions will not change the statistical calcs one little bit. I understand that.
ReplyDeleteI just won't play their race game any more. It's ruining our country and I refuse to participate.
