From what I've read on some of the barter sites, everything is very "above the board" - it's all reported, and thus taxable. I think successful barter groups will be similar to what you participated in.

Suburban, what is so insidious about this law is that from the very first non-electronic payment, you have to start keeping track, so breaking down a transaction - or even doing $500 transactions at multiple locations - won't help much. You won't be reported to Nanny (supposedly) but you're now in someone's computer. That destroys the concept of personal privacy and anonymity.

Mike, my wife and I were talking about this a few days ago. Barry and Bernanke can keep stringing us along for perhaps a few more years, but eventually, the money will run out, and we'll be forced to take on austerity programs like Europe.

Then, we'll burn like Europe is right now. Massive numbers of forced removals from office won't happen until the Dependent Class stops getting their free stuff.

When you've got 90% of the population pissed off at you (the dependent class and the middle class), bad things happen.Chief Instructorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13604561415860237705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964596045360803212.post-62976226069573218102011-01-01T07:10:24.127-08:002011-01-01T07:10:24.127-08:00I think that the "creative" solution her...I think that the "creative" solution here involves the very many deposing the very few... and starting from scratch.

I wish you all the very best in the new year.

MikeH.MikeH.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11511925756474067012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964596045360803212.post-66219425200605933242010-12-31T14:36:07.107-08:002010-12-31T14:36:07.107-08:00I guess you could get creative; "trade" ...I guess you could get creative; "trade" a 1oz coin for X number of smaller gold/silver coins and $500 cash in on transaction. You started out with 10 hours credit, and were expected to pay it back eventually. I don't remember if the hours were figured on straight time or a children/hour basis, but it worked pretty well. If you baby sat, you reported the hours to the time keeper, and if you were sat for, you did the same - sort of a double entry bookkeeping system. The numbers had to match. As I recall, it worked pretty well in the short term, but we were transferred out and I don't know how long it was in effect.

I could see a small group working out a barter system sort of like that. Anything other than time would be a problem - which is why we use money as a medium - but I have no doubt clever people could surmount it. I know there are barter groups online, but I've never explored them. Maybe I should.sueknoreply@blogger.com
